Gampaha District
Gampaha District is a district located in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. The total area of the district is 1,386.6 square km and the total population (in 2012) was 2,294,641. The district capital is Gampaha and the largest city in the district is Negombo.
Gampaha district, which separated from Colombo and became an independent district in 1978, has 13 regional secretariats with 1177 rural service areas and 2 municipal councils, 5 municipal councils and 12 local councils.
